FAQ
What homeowners ask before they start
Straight answers about cost, durability, downtime, and how a cabinet project actually runs in a home you're still living in.
- What affects the cost of cabinet refinishing?
- The number of cabinet doors and drawer fronts, their current condition, needed repairs, grain filling, finish choice, and any hardware changes all affect the scope and cost. Send photos and counts for a personally reviewed pricing range.Get a photo estimate →
- Is cabinet refinishing a smart alternative to replacement?
- In most Northern Colorado homes, yes. If your cabinet boxes are solid and the layout works, refinishing typically costs a fraction of replacement, keeps your kitchen usable far sooner, and avoids demolition, new counters, and drywall repair. Replacement makes more sense when boxes are failing or the layout itself needs to change.
- Which painted or custom finish is right for my cabinets?
- Paint gives cabinetry an even, updated look. On open-grain wood like oak, extra preparation can create a smoother painted surface, while less filling leaves some texture visible. Glazes and custom details can add depth to painted door profiles. We'll compare color and sheen against your lighting, counters, and flooring before anything is ordered.
- What does your preparation process look like?
- Preparation is where a finish is won or lost. Doors and drawer fronts are labeled and removed, hardware is cataloged, surfaces are cleaned and degreased, then sanded and prepped for adhesion. Work areas are masked and protected, and we prime with products chosen for the substrate before applying finish coats.
- How durable is the finish?
- We use cabinet-grade coatings built for daily kitchen use — cleaning, moisture, and hand contact. Applied over correct preparation and given proper cure time, they hold up far better than a brushed-on wall paint. We'll explain cure timelines and care at your walkthrough.
- How long will my kitchen be out of use?
- Most cabinet projects take up to about one week. Counters and sinks stay usable for most of the project. We'll give you a realistic day-by-day expectation before we start.
- What about hardware, cleanup, and care?
- Existing hardware can be reinstalled or swapped for new pulls and knobs. We clean up daily and do a full cleanup at completion, and you'll get simple care instructions for the first weeks while the finish fully cures.
- Which areas do you serve?
- Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor, Timnath, Berthoud, Greeley, Wellington, and the surrounding Northern Colorado Front Range, plus the Denver metro area including Denver, Boulder, Longmont, Broomfield, Westminster, Thornton, Arvada, Lakewood, and Aurora. Send your city or ZIP code so we can confirm coverage and scheduling.
